The AMSI Winter School is a two-week residential program for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and early career researchers in the mathematical sciences and cognate disciplines, providing the opportunity for participants to expand their skills and build collaborative networks with their peers.

AMSI Winter School 2017 is hosted by the Queensland University of Technology, and will focus on the computational foundations of data science. Students, researchers and employees working in (or who have an interest in increasing their breath of knowledge in) the following areas of Data Science are invited to register their interest for this event:

  • Inverse problems
  • Numerical linear algebra
  • Bayesian inference & data assimilation
  • Nonlinear optimisation
  • Machine learning
  • Model reduction methods

To maximise the experience, the school aims to feature prominent international and domestic key note speakers, researchers and/or lecturers, as well as a number of program extras including social events, a special guest public lecture, careers session, and a women in the mathematical sciences panel event.
